Kyllie

My name is Kyllie and I was 42 at the time of my vaccination. Here is my story. Prior to 2022, I enjoyed my life in Perth with my husband and my two beautiful girls. I was very active and loved to socialise with friends.

To fulfil my job as a Native Nursery Development Officer, I had to be physically fit to manage the propagation of 100,000 different plants spread over several greenhouses. I was used to being on my feet, moving around and adjusting to different temperatures. My work was fulfilling, but little did I know my life was about to change when my employer and family pressured me to “do the right thing!”

It all began in late 2021 when my employer put signs up around the workplace stating social distancing and the Covid vaccination would be required to keep my position. After three years of being employed by this company, I really did think that I would have much more support. The word got out that if I was to keep my shifts, I would have to be vaccinated. I felt alone, pressured, and sickened at being mandated to take this vaccine.

I never thought these vaccines were safe and effective and I believed nothing the government or the media said. I believed that a healthy immune system could deal with Covid and I was never afraid of catching it. So, after waiting as long as I could, I went to get my first Pfizer vaccine on the 13th of January, 2022 at the Craigie Medical Centre. I got a slight headache and nausea, but I was okay and the symptoms passed quickly. I did not have too much concern about my next vaccine, which was 3 weeks away.

I had my second Pfizer vaccine at 11am on Wednesday, the 3rd of February. I felt fine until 6pm when I developed chills, aches and pains, and an all-over body weakness. I took myself to bed early with a thumping headache. Panadol did not relieve the pressure all night and I was kept awake with the pain in my eyes and my head. It was a 10/10 severity and I felt like I was dying.

The next day (Thursday the 4th), I had still not been able to eat all day and barely drank any fluids and could not even sit up in bed. It was the early hours of Friday, the 5th of February that I collapsed on the floor tiles. I was extremely hot, convulsing, and confused. My body and bones were aching and in terrible pain.

My husband drove me to Joondalup Hospital and I was admitted right away.  I lay there on the bed in agony, with no answers from doctors or nurses. I was given fluids and pain relief. I was told my potassium levels were very low and was given potassium medication. After 8 hours, I was drugged up and feeling a little better, so I went home. The nurse told me to return to hospital if my symptoms persisted.

About 24 hours later, I was feeling the same symptoms burning up in me again. My head thumped with pain, my eyes were sensitive to light, my heart felt like it was double beating, and my body was very weak.  I returned to the hospital.

I was placed in Emergency, given IV fluids, and left there for 5-6 hours. One nurse put me on a heart monitor for five minutes and it came back with clear results. I felt this was not long enough to get a clear outcome, but the doctors’ end verdict was that I should rest for two weeks and then I would slowly recover. They did not give any diagnosis or answers as to why I was feeling so poorly. The medical staff rushed me out and I felt they were negative, unconcerned, and dismissive.

I did not go to work the following week as I felt scattered and my head was still thumping. My GP told me to rest and take Nurofen, after which the symptoms should resolve. However, there was just no way I could perform my daily tasks, which I had done for the past three years. I was in no condition to work, so eventually I had to resign.

I caught Covid in late February, three weeks after my second vaccine. My symptoms were nowhere near as serious as those I experienced after my second Pfizer vaccine.

A Facebook support group encouraged me to seek alternative treatment and I sought the help of a naturopath. They helped with detoxing and I was relieved that after 6 months, the thumping in my head was alleviated and my energy improved a little. However, I am wary of having any alcohol now as it sets off the traumatic head thumping.

The aftereffects of the Pfizer vaccine have been devastating. I have brain fog and find it hard to remember the basics of completing tasks. I’ve had to settle for a part-time waitressing job that requires me not to use my memory too much. When I mention the possibility that my symptoms are from the jab, the doctors dismiss my concerns. All they do is refer me for scans and I get no answers.

I am yet to have a frontal lobe brain X-ray as I must wait until my braces are removed.  I currently work 20-25 hours a week and I get fatigued after working 6 hours a day. I come home and try to sleep whenever I can. My brain has become very lazy and long conversations tire me.

I caught Covid again in March, 2023, and have felt even more fatigued since.

I’ve spent a lot of money on health physicians and naturopaths, and I have lost income due to losing the full ability of my brain to work in my preferred job. The lack of general support and validation have been very tough. I have been left feeling isolated and have trauma over what I experienced. I am much more reserved than I used to be and tend to be less social.

I still feel that I have not recovered to my full potential before having the Pfizer vaccine and the reactions it caused. I still suffer fatigue and my memory has not improved. I feel it was due to the sheer pain in my head after taking the Pfizer vaccine.  I’m at a loss financially and my family suffer when I just don’t have the strength.  I am fortunate that my family supports me. I hope to join the class action and keep our freedom of speech.

I share my story to spread awareness of what happened to me after taking the vaccine. It is our right to talk freely about it and it should not be a taboo subject. It is a real injustice that these vaccines were forced on the community. I feel for all who are jab injured and impacted.
