Well before the COVID debacle I had made the decision not to take any vaccines ever again in my life. But here I am today, having taken three COVID-19 vaccines and now living my ‘new normal’.

I’m 62 years old and live in suburban Melbourne with my wife. We have three grown children and two grandchildren. Prior to COVID life was good. I had a great job as a National Brand Manager for a large multi-national food company. I was fit and well. I trained in the gym four to five days a week, two of those days with a personal trainer, and had done so for eight years. My high cholesterol is treated with medication, but apart from that I did not touch any other medicines, including vaccines.

Over 20 years ago I suffered a bad reaction to an antibiotic where I experienced dreadful headaches and body rashes. Tests carried out by an immunologist concluded it was a serum sickness reaction and I was strongly advised to avoid medication such as antibiotics and vaccines in future. So that’s what I did.

Then the COVID vaccinations were mandated.

When COVID was first mentioned in the media it felt like a bad B grade movie was being played. It seemed surreal. The media images were transfixing and like most people I wondered what on earth was happening. When talk of the vaccines came up, I thought it would be good for those who wanted it, but that I certainly would not be getting it. My wife and kids were all of the same opinion.

When we heard whispers in our industry that vaccinations would be mandated, I made it very clear to my manager that I would not be having them, and that I would hold off to see how the situation played out. He agreed that was the best approach. But as time went by it was obvious that I would not be able to hold out.

Then, the email arrived that said my job was in jeopardy should I fail to get vaccinated.

By now I had heard horror stories about the AstraZeneca vaccine and I was even more fearful of that brand. So, just as my deadline loomed, I was able to book in for a Pfizer one on 20 August, 2021. As an act of solidarity, and because simply living our lives had become so difficult without the necessary evidence of the vaccination, my wife came with me to the Old Exhibition Building pop-up centre and we both had our first jab. We both suffered sore arms and headaches but nothing more. I thought I had dodged the bullet!

Since the first vaccination had been uneventful, I had very little concern about having the second six weeks later. But within a week of having it, I felt really unwell. I had headaches and unusual pressure on both sides of my head, along with extreme fatigue. I could barely get out of my chair. I was also suffering from nausea, brain fog and dizziness. The dizziness turned into full-on vertigo on a couple of occasions.

Then I developed a rash on my chest and the inside of my legs. It looked a bit like mild measles and was not itchy, but I felt like I had a permanent high temperature.

Not too long after this I began to experience extreme — and I mean extreme — kidney pain, especially on my right-hand side. My GP ordered an ultrasound that came back clear. Then a few days later, the rash got even worse on my right-hand side. It turned out to be a very bad case of shingles.

Tinnitus developed soon after. In both ears. And it is very loud, especially at night. A fight and flight adrenaline response also manifested where I felt an overwhelming feeling that I was going to drop dead at any moment. This would happen a couple of times a week and it went on for a month or two until I was able to get on top of it with CBD oil. After a few weeks I noticed a real improvement and now it no longer happens. But I’m still plagued by tinnitus.

The due-by date for mandated the third vaccination on 12 March, 2022 loomed. Despite the fact I now worked from home, I knew I had to comply to keep working for the company.

At 2.42pm on 11th March I got an email saying the third vaccination was no longer required. Unfortunately I’d had my third just days prior. I’ll never know if the government changed their minds or if my company was ever really within their rights to push for the third. But for me it was too late, and that third jab exacerbated my symptoms even more.

By now I was experiencing debilitating brain fog, memory loss and lack of comprehension, and because of this my recollection of the timeline of events is a bit tricky.

Soon after the third vaccination, annual sales budgets were expected from me. This was something I had done for years. We had a meeting about the budget and by the time I left the meeting and walked back to my desk, I had no recollection of what we had discussed. I knew that I knew how to do the budget, but I could not cognitively fathom how to start the process. It terrified me. It was like the ‘old’ Michael and the ‘new’ Michael were strangers to each other. As the National Business Manager I was the company ‘go-to-guy’, yet here I was really struggling to get my thoughts in order.

I began utilising my sick leave, then annual leave, then long service leave. And at that point I realised that I couldn’t see my way forward to working any more.

On 22nd August the General Manager of the company rang me under guise of ‘seeing how you are going’. But he finished the conversation saying, ‘It would be remiss of me not to say that if you use up all of your leave, we won’t be able to pay you.’ If my leave was gone, my job was gone. This is what is known as a ‘corporate squeeze’. They wanted me gone for one reason or another.

At home my wife and I discussed me handing in my notice. I did not want to use all the long service leave money. So on 22nd November I tendered my resignation ‘DUE TO ILL HEALTH’. I made it very clear in the letter that was the reason for my resignation. I would like to have added ‘due to your mandated jabs!!!’ I finished up on 13 Jan 2023 and by then some of the projects I was working on were really beginning to suffer as a direct result of my inability to recall and comprehend.

All during this time I was regularly visiting my GP who is an integrated medicine doctor. He was sure my injury was a direct result of the vaccine. His first treatment response is not always pharmaceuticals. So, he’s had me take all kinds of vitamin supplements. He sent me to have a variety of tests on my heart, brain and kidneys, all showing nothing significant. He diagnosed that I have had a severe adverse reaction to the COVID vaccines. It was evident he could see a correlation to the reaction I had to the antibiotics 24 years ago. He maintains that I again suffered a serum sickness reaction after the second vaccination. My body has overreacted to the vaccine and is desperately trying to rid itself of it.

To treat my injury, my doctor recommended Vitamin C infusions, Vitamin B12 injections, Vitamin D, Metagenics Super Mushroom with Astragalus, NAC, Isagenix NAD, multivitamins, zinc, as well as Eden Orchards Cherry Juice and Reishi Mushroom Extract to help with sleep. Along with my vitamin regimen, I have been doing cold water therapy which means a cold shower in morning. For me it’s kind of like hitting a reset button, and the feeling of well-being can sometimes last most of the day. Just recently I have begun doing two PT sessions a week.

My wife and I have been ‘clean’ eating for the past ten years and growing our own green leafy veggies. So, it would be fair to say we were on the health and wellness path long before this shit show. But despite that, the COVID vaccine has done a job on me.

In November 2023 during my routine blood tests I recorded an unusually high PSA reading indicating prostate cancer. I underwent radical prostatectomy surgery in January this year. This was by far the most horrible procedure I have ever endured. I’d rather have a hernia operation every day than experience that again. The recovery period ’til I felt better, (which means my ‘new normal’), was three months.

I have seen a psychologist to help me overcome the dark feelings I have had as a result of the past three years. It has been a really rough period for me. But in the big scheme of things I was lucky to have income protection insurance. I took it out years ago, so I have some income for a couple of years into the future. So, I can see that I am lucky compared to some others, and I have resigned myself to my new normal.

I’ve said to many people, including my psychologist, that I am really angry that the Australian Government gave our employers the ability to break the law for that window of time, by using financial coercion and blackmail to get people to take these untested vaccines.

I think what this shows is that I am not a stereotypical 60 plus year old, because I really do focus on my health and fitness. Sadly, the COVID vaccine has impacted my health severely. But I have to keep pushing through. I cannot let this untested bastard of a so called ‘vaccine’ ruin the rest of my life.
